Description
The Nectar of the Daily Drams is the rum line of Belgian bottler The Nectar, and this release captures an unaged pot still spirit from Romero & Sons in Ecuador, distilled from cane honey and filled at 55%. It belongs with the characterful agricole style whites, dry and expressive rather than sweetened or smoothed.
Pot distillation from cane honey gives it body and a salty, mineral edge that marks out pure cane spirit, while honeyed sweetness, fresh grass and florals carry the nose. The palate stays fresh and mild for the strength, with the finish turning vegetal and faintly floral over a hint of melon. There is no added sugar, and although it is pleasant enough neat, it earns its keep mixed, where the honeyed, herbal core lifts a Daiquiri.
