The Mars 2014 Cask 1737 is a single cask single malt from Mars Shinshu, Hombo Shuzo's distillery in Miyada, Nagano, distilled in 2014 and matured for five years in a 1st Fill Bourbon cask before bottling at natural cask strength in 2020 for the Japanese market. First-fill wood is the most active and extractive type of bourbon maturation, and five years in such a cask at cool alpine temperatures gives the spirit time to absorb a generous amount of vanilla and oak structure.

At 62%, Cask 1737 is among the more powerful of the Mars Shinshu single cask series. Without specific tasting data, the profile follows the typical first-fill bourbon trajectory for this distillery: rich vanilla, caramel, fresh wood tannin and the clean mountain cereal character of the Nagano new make, concentrated by the high proof and the cask's active contribution over the maturation period.
