Description
This is a collaboration between Walsh Whiskey's The Irishman and Dick Mack's, the well known pub and brewery in Dingle. Released in 2021 as a single cask of 276 bottles, it is a peated blend finished in a European oak cask that had held Dick Mack's own red ale, bottled at cask strength in Co. Carlow for the Irish market.
Peat is a rare touch in this range, and here it adds a gentle smoke over the malt and pot still base, while the red ale cask lends a malty, faintly hoppy sweetness. At 50.1% and undiluted, cask number 656 keeps plenty of intensity, an unusual pairing of Irish whiskey and an Irish brewery's red ale bottled from a single barrel.
