Founder's Reserve is the blend at the heart of The Irishman range from Walsh Whiskey, marrying single malt with single pot still and no grain whiskey. This edition, finished in Caribbean rum casks, was released in 2022 from the company's Co. Carlow base and bottled at 46%.
American oak carries the vanilla and soft malt base, while barrels that once held St. Lucia rum add tropical fruit, brown sugar and a warm sweetness over the pot still spice. At 46%, the finish sits lightly on a rounded, fruit forward blend, a Caribbean twist on a whiskey that leans on the marriage of malt and pot still for its character.
