Description
This single cask belongs to The Irishman single malt line from Walsh Whiskey, finished in a Marsala hogshead and bottled in 2019 for the Austrian market. Cask number 1934, one of a limited 416 bottles, took its finish from Florio, a long established Marsala house in Sicily, following a first maturation in ex bourbon oak.
The fortified Sicilian wine cask brings dried fruit, a nutty richness and a raisined sweetness over the vanilla and malt laid down by the bourbon barrels. At 46%, the Marsala finish rounds out the single malt without heaviness, a warm, dessert leaning expression drawn from one cask rather than a large blend.
