Description
Kill Devil, the rum line from Scottish whisky house Hunter Laing, selected this single cask of Ten Cane, an unusual pot still rum from Trinidad, an island better known for light column still spirit. Distilled in 2008 and aged fourteen years, it is bottled at its natural 63% and without added sugar.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, the pot still character shows in a glue, estery nose alongside tropical fruit, menthol and oak. The palate carries real power, with caramel, tropical fruit and vanilla under a crisp menthol freshness that runs into the finish. At full strength the intensity is considerable, the menthol lift and pot still funk giving it a character distinct from typical Trinidad rum. A bold, high proof single cask for those who enjoy the estery, fresh side of the island.
