Small Batch is the whiskey that introduced most drinkers to Teeling, a blended Irish whiskey married and finished in rum casks at the Dublin house. This batch, SB/67, was bottled in 2022 for Luxembourg, a market specific run of the flagship. Rum cask finishing was an unusual move when the brand launched and it remains the calling card.
The rum casks are the signature, layering brown sugar, banana and soft tropical sweetness over the blend's toffee and vanilla grain character, with a peppery malt edge keeping it from turning simple. Bottled at 46%, comfortably above the usual strength for an entry level blend, it carries more texture and spice than its easy going label suggests.
