Description
The seventh Sommelier Selection is a single grain, column distilled Irish whiskey drawn from the sourced stock the Teeling family matures under its own name, finished in Rioja red wine casks for release in 2025. Grain whiskey's light, sweet frame has long been Teeling's favourite canvas for wine oak, and the Spanish casks continue the series habit of letting the vineyard lead.
After ex-bourbon maturation the whiskey moved into casks that held Rioja, tempranillo country wood that folds sherried red fruit and dark chocolate through the soft toffee and gentle citrus of the grain. Bottled at 46% without chill filtration for Europe, it drinks lighter than its colour suggests, an easy introduction to what red wine casks do to Irish grain whiskey.
