Recioto casks, once home to the dried grape sweet reds of Valpolicella, finish the fourth of Teeling’s Sommelier Selections, layering raisin, black cherry and dark chocolate over the Dublin house’s small batch blend, bottled at 46%.

Description
The fourth Sommelier Selection in Teeling's Small Batch Series borrows casks from Recioto, the Valpolicella tradition of drying grapes before fermentation to make a concentrated sweet red. Released for Europe in 2022, it applies that wood to the Dublin house blend of malt and grain whiskeys, another chapter in the Newmarket distillery's long conversation with the wine world.
Ex-bourbon maturation came first, with the Recioto casks finishing the blend in raisin, black cherry and dark chocolate, a sherried depth of cooked fruit set against vanilla and fresh oak. Bottled at 46% without chill filtration, it is among the richer entries in the series, closer to a sherry cask profile than the white wine editions that bracket it.
