Teeling breaks the unpeated Irish rule with Blackpitts, a triple distilled peated single malt from the Newmarket distillery, matured in ex-bourbon and Sauternes casks so honey and candied citrus thread through the smoke, bottled at 46%.

Description
Irish whiskey is overwhelmingly unpeated, which makes Blackpitts a deliberate act of contrariness from Teeling, a peated single malt triple distilled at the Newmarket distillery and named for the old tannery quarter next door. This 2020 release for Europe helped introduce smoke to modern Dublin whiskey, softened by the extra pass through copper.
Maturation combined ex-bourbon barrels with ex-Sauternes casks, the sweet Bordeaux wood folding honey and candied citrus through the peat so the smoke reads as coal gas warmth and a faint rubbery snap rather than raw bonfire, with dark chocolate underneath. Bottled at 46% without chill filtration, it sits at the gentler end of the peated spectrum, an Irish accent on a Scottish idea.
