Peat smoke is rare in Irish whiskey, but Teeling’s Blackpitts is triple distilled from peated malt in Dublin, and this single cask #68770 layers that soft smoke over a Marsala finish, bottled at a cask strength 59.4% for the Netherlands.

Description
Blackpitts is Teeling's peated single malt, named for the old tanning district beside the Newmarket distillery in Dublin's Liberties. Unusually, the peated malt is still triple distilled in the Irish manner, which softens the smoke into something gentler than its Scottish cousins. Cask #68770 is a single cask bottling for the Netherlands, drawn through the distillery's Single Cask programme.
The whiskey began in Ex-Bourbon wood and took a finishing period in a Marsala cask, setting the Sicilian wine's dried fig and toffee sweetness against soft bonfire smoke, green apple and barbecued citrus. Bottled at a cask strength 59.4% with no age statement, it is smoke as Dublin makes it, aromatic rather than medicinal, sweet at its centre.
