Description
Teeling Alentejo Wine is the sixth chapter of the Sommelier Selection, the wing of the Dublin house's Small Batch Series that lets wine expertise steer the finishing cask. Bottled in 2024 for the Irish market, it is a blend of malt and grain whiskeys from the company that reopened distilling in the Liberties in 2015 and built its reputation on adventurous wood.
After initial maturation in ex-bourbon casks the blend was finished in white wine barrels from Alentejo in southern Portugal, which lend a dry, grassy note of cut hay alongside honey, lemon zest and fresh orchard fruit, with malt extract and milk chocolate underneath. Bottled at 46% without chill filtration, it is a gentle, food friendly take on the wine cask theme.
