Description
Teeling's Single Cask programme is where the Dublin distillery's adventurous cask culture runs freest, and cask #77561 is among its stranger vessels: acacia wood, rarely seen in whiskey maturation. This single malt was triple distilled at the Newmarket site in the Liberties and bottled without an age statement for the Polish market.
Acacia behaves differently from oak, giving up resinous spice, dried herbs and a floral honey sweetness rather than the familiar vanilla and coconut. Over Teeling's fruity, triple distilled malt the effect is aromatic and slightly wild, with orchard fruit still pushing through underneath. It is bottled undiluted at a cask strength 58.9%, one cask, one run of bottles, no water added.
