Tatratea Rosehip & Sea Buckthorn Tea Liqueur

Tatratea is a Slovak tea liqueur range from the Tatra mountains, black tea plus mountain herbs sold across many strengths. The Rosehip and Sea Buckthorn edition sits high on the ladder at 57%, made with black tea, oak shavings and selected herbs and spices in the modern Tatratea style, drawn from the Tatra tradition of simple herbal infusions. Tart hedgerow fruit of rosehip and sea buckthorn sits over the house tea base.

The nose is sweetish with rosehips. The palate is sweet and sour and fresh with clear rosehip notes, the finish long, with rose, honey and citrus in support. At 57% it is firmly among the stronger entries, so a smaller measure carries plenty of tart fruit and structure. It contributes a bright sweet sour rosehip character, a floral rose lift and tannic tea grip, useful where acidity and aroma are wanted to cut sweetness in a long iced build. It can be poured over ice, lengthened with soda or tea, or used as a sharp note in a cocktail. The tart fruit makes it a good foil to richer mixes. Mind the strength when balancing.
