Description
This Taketsuru 21 Years Old was bottled for La Maison du Whisky for the French market, making it a retailer-specific release of Nikka's longer-aged blended malt. It draws on malt whisky from Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture, the two sites whose complementary characters define the Taketsuru range.
Maturation in Ex-Bourbon oak over 21 years gives the blend its foundation of vanilla, honey and dried orchard fruit. Yoichi contributes a firmer, more structured malt character with its characteristic coastal weight, while Miyagikyo adds the softer, more fragrant fruit and floral notes that round the blend. The French market bottling at 43% represents a curated selection within the Taketsuru 21 release history.
