A 15 year old TDL from Kill Devil, overproof at 62.9 percent and built on fruit, spice and honey over a mild floral lift, a dry Trinidad single cask from the living distillery in the 2006 vintage.
Description
Kill Devil, the single-cask line from Scottish whisky house Hunter Laing, has bottled this 2006 TDL from the working Trinidad distillery within the Angostura group. Overproof at 62.9 percent and drawn from a single cask, it shows the light, fragrant column-still Trinidad style at full strength.
The nose is mild and well balanced, a gentle mixture of alcohol, fruit, floral and spice with woody notes underneath, and the palate hits fast with a firm punch of spice and alcohol. The finish brings honey and fruit over more spice. Distilled from Trinidadian molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak across 15 years, this is the clean, high-distilled side of Trinidad rather than the heavy Caroni mark, dry and unsweetened with serious cask strength. A drop of water opens it up, revealing the soft, fruit-and-honey character beneath the proof. A vigorous, honest Trinidad single cask.
