Spicy black tea wound through strong Inlander rum, with ginger, orange, honey and cinnamon, this Austrian Jagertee from Stroh is concentrated to be cut with hot water and served warm with winter cooking.

Description
Stroh Jagertee is an Austrian Punsch and tea speciality bottled at 40%, still made to an old family recipe at Stroh. It is based on Stroh Inlander rum, the house spiced rum with its strong character, combined with black tea extracts and carefully selected essence extracts. That pairing gives the Jagertee its spicy, strong profile. Like the house punch it is deliberately concentrated and intended to be infused with water before drinking, in the long Alpine tradition of hunter's tea served hot.
The nose shows spicy black tea, rum, fine herbs and a subtle sweetness, the palate strong and balanced across rum, tea and spicy essences with a harmonious sweetness, the finish warming, round, spicy and long. On a menu it is a winter fixture, prepared with hot water to the desired strength as a warming drink to carry through cold weather service. It pairs particularly well with sweet pastries such as gingerbread, Kletzenbrot and nut strudel, and with savoury cuisine. The black tea adds tannic grip that the rum spice rides on. Serve hot, adjusting dilution to taste.
