The Smirnoff story runs from Pyotr Smirnov's Moscow distillery through Vladimir Smirnov's flight during the Revolution, a name change to Smirnoff in 1925, and eventual ownership by Diageo. The core vodka is triple distilled and charcoal filtered for a clean, neutral base, which is what makes it such a reliable canvas for flavour. This Twist takes that base and bottles it as a fruit-led spirit drink at 25% by volume, lower than a full-strength vodka so the mango and passionfruit sit forward and the alcohol stays gentle.

The nose is tropical, all ripe mango and tart passionfruit. The palate follows with juicy mango sweetness cut by the sharp, seedy tang of passionfruit, finishing long and fruity. Because the fruit is doing the talking, keep the mixer simple: pour 50ml over plenty of ice in a highball, top with ginger ale, and finish with a wedge of lime, the ginger spice lifting the mango while the lime keeps it from turning sticky.
