Description
Schlumberger is one of Austria's best known sparkling wine houses, and WHITE ICE Secco is its answer to the over-ice serve. The blend of Welschriesling, Weissburgunder and Chardonnay is fermented and held in stainless steel to keep the primary fruit clean and bright, then finished with a gentle perlage rather than a firm mousse. Residual sugar of roughly 31 grams per litre places it at the softer, off-dry end, which is deliberate for a wine meant to be diluted a little by melting ice on a warm day.
The colour is light gold with a lively, small bubble. The nose leads with juicy white peach and ripe pear over a touch of lemon, while the palate stays fresh and easy, green apple and white flowers carrying through a clean finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a large wine glass over ice, with fresh mint or lemon zest. It suits light summer starters, fresh seafood and fruit based desserts.
