Description
Schlumberger is Austria's historic sparkling house, founded in 1842, and White Ice is its Secco designed to be poured over ice. The wine is a cuvée of Austrian white grapes, led by Welschriesling with Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, given its light sparkle in a tank based Secco style that keeps the fruit fresh and the fizz gentle. The finish is left fruity and off dry, which suits its role as a summer refresher.
The colour is a light straw yellow with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose shows juicy peach and ripe pear with a hint of citrus. On the palate it is balanced, a fine sweetness set against a refreshing acidity, with green apple and white flowers on a pleasantly long finish. Serve well chilled, ideally over ice in a large wine glass with mint or a twist of lemon, or use it as a base for a Secco Spritz or Bellini. It also suits light starters, fresh seafood and fruity desserts.
