Description
Schlumberger has been a pioneer of Austrian sparkling wine since 1842, and this Reserve is a vintage, single grape Chardonnay Sekt made by traditional bottle fermentation. The wine spends a minimum of thirty five months on its lees, which builds an aromatic complexity, a creamy texture and a fine bead. That long yeast ageing produces the brioche and nut character that defines the style, set against Chardonnay's freshness and the minerality of the Austrian sites. The Brut dosage keeps it dry.
The colour is a light golden yellow with green reflections. The nose reveals hay flowers, citrus peel and a hint of fresh almond over a fine toasted note. On the palate it is dry and complex, with a persistent perlage, a green tea edge and a subtle mineral hint on a long finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass. It makes an elegant aperitif and suits chicken in a creamy sauce, mussels and fine white fish.
