Description
Schlumberger is a historic Austrian sparkling house that makes its Sekt by the traditional bottle-fermentation method, the same approach used in Champagne. This is a vintage bottling from the 2022 harvest, built on Austrian grapes typically led by Grüner Veltliner with Welschriesling. The wine undergoes its second fermentation in the bottle and then a longer period on the lees, which for a single-vintage cuvee builds real bready complexity alongside the fresh fruit. The Brut dosage keeps the finish dry and precise, and the magnum supports slow, even ageing.
The colour is bright straw with a fine, persistent bead. The nose leads with green apple, pear and lemon, backed by white peach, a soft toasted-bread and biscuit note and a light floral lift. The palate is dry and structured, with a fine mousse and a long, lightly biscuity finish. Serve well chilled at around 7 to 9 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside white fish, shellfish and roast poultry.
