Description
Sakurao Togouchi 15 Years Old is a blended whisky from Sakurao Brewery & Distillery in Hiroshima, aged fifteen years and bottled at 43.8% for the European market. Part of the Togouchi range, it is matured in the brand's distinctive railway tunnel in Hiroshima, where a stable, cool and humid environment is said to promote gradual, even maturation.
Time in Ex-Bourbon casks adds depth to the blend, rounding out the cereal and vanilla base with dried stone fruit, light toffee and a warm, easy spice at fifteen years of age. As with all Togouchi releases, the full provenance of the blend is undisclosed, and the expression is best understood through the character that the extended barrel time and tunnel conditions have shaped.
