Description
At the Sakurao Distillery in Hiroshima, classic gin botanicals meet the produce of the surrounding coast. Nine botanicals in all, with juniper, coriander and citrus zest joined by regional Japanese ingredients: the fragrant yuzu and daidai citrus, green tea and fresh local herbs that give this gin its particular poise. The result feels unmistakably of its place, quietly confident rather than loud.
The nose opens fresh and citrus-bright, yuzu and daidai over a soft herbal base. The palate is smooth and harmonious, citrus playing against green tea nuances, mild herbs and a subtle warmth, before a long, elegant, lightly spiced finish. Build a G&T with a Mediterranean or yuzu tonic and a shiso leaf to draw out the fruit.
