Sakurao Single Malt Japanese Whisky is a no age statement, cask strength expression from Sakurao Brewery & Distillery in Hiroshima, bottled in 2021 at 54% for the global market. Opened in 2017 near Miyajima, Sakurao has embraced higher-strength releases as a way of presenting its young single malt with maximum transparency and character.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks in the house style, the spirit delivers chocolate, citrus, cooked fruit and dried fruit alongside a warm honey and cooked mash backbone. The cask strength presentation amplifies the distillery's coastal Hiroshima character, giving the palate a direct and energetic impression of what Sakurao's new make becomes with time in the barrel.
