Description
Rum Runner bottled this single cask carrying the KFM marque from the 1991 vintage, thirty years old and run off Guyana's single wooden pot still, the Versailles configuration despite the Enmore name on the label. The 1991 KFM casks are prized for their sheer aromatic density, and this is no exception.
Molasses based and matured in ex-bourbon oak to a dry, unsweetened finish, it rewards slow sipping. The nose builds heavy leather, polished wood, brown sugar, dried dark fruit and pencil aromas, the palate confirms leather, prunes, roasted oak and a peppery, medicinal herbal streak, and the finish stays woody and long. Earthy tobacco and solvent notes add to the depth. At 53.2 percent it is intense and tightly wound, a serious old Demerara for patient, experienced palates.
