A cask strength Worthy Park from a single ex-bourbon barrel, bright with tropical fruit, floral lift and vanilla up front before the palate turns fruity, dry and tannic with black tea and leather.

Description
Bottled by Rum Exchange from a single cask, this is a five year old Worthy Park distilled in 2013 at the St. Catherine estate. Worthy Park is a 100 percent pot still, single estate house known for a clean, precise style that draws its esters from fermentation alone, so the funk here is moderate and polished rather than the wild solvent intensity of Trelawny.
Maturation was in an ex-bourbon barrel, the classic choice for aged molasses rum, and the tropical fruit and floral aromas give way to a drier, more structured palate of black tea, bitterness and gentle ester. The finish leans woody and leathery with the fruit lingering underneath. Bottled unsweetened at 59 percent, it rewards a little water, which softens the youthful edges and brings the fruitier side forward.
