A young sweetened Dominican ron from Romdeluxe, mild and vanilla-forward with caramel, coffee and a notably strong maple note, a soft 40% beginner-friendly sipper that leans thin and sugary rather than deep or structured.
Description
Prins Endlau is a Dominican Republic bottling from the Danish house Romdeluxe, sourced and released at five years old in ex-bourbon casks. Romdeluxe is best known for its high-ester Wild Series funk bombs, but its more accessible releases sit at the gentler end of the spectrum, and this one is firmly a soft, sweetened introduction to Spanish-style ron rather than a cask-strength statement.
The spirit is molasses-based and matured in ex-bourbon wood, which lends the expected vanilla and caramel, with coffee and a fruity edge on the nose. It is openly sweetened, and that shows: the palate is mild, thin and pushed toward the sweeter side, with vanilla up front and an unusually pronounced maple note running through. The finish is short, vanilla and gentle wood. This is an easy starter pour for drinkers stepping in from sweeter spirits, honest about being more dessert than dram.
