Renegade Cuvée Nursery (Single Farm) 2021

Renegade is a Grenada distillery built around terroir and single-farm cane, and this Cuvee Nursery is a young agricole-style rum, distilled from fresh sugar-cane juice and matured two years in ex-bourbon oak. The project's interest lies in tying each bottling to a specific plot of cane, and this is one of those farm-focused expressions.

The profile is fresh and fruit-forward: the nose leads on orange, apple and bright agricole character, the palate brings apricot, apple and a lively ginger note, and the finish stays agricole-driven with orange, ginger and a touch of barrel. The youth shows in a light, easy body rather than great depth, which makes it approachable and well suited to sipping or cocktails. Bottled dry at 46%, it is an honest, drinkable young agricole, more about fresh cane and orchard fruit than aged depth, and a fair-value way into Renegade's terroir-led range.
