Renegade Cuvée Nova (All-Island)

Renegade distils on Grenada, one of the emerging terroirs in rum, and Cuvee Nova is an all-island blend of its cane juice rum, bottled unsweetened at 46%. Pressed from fresh cane rather than molasses and relatively young, it is an accessible introduction to the distillery's dry, terroir-driven style.

The profile mixes fruit with a distinctive funk: a nose of dried fruit, sugarcane, vanilla and wood, a palate of pineapple, berries and light oak, then a finish of caramel, spice and sugarcane. A faint plastic, solvent edge gives it a quirky character that marks Grenada out as its own thing, neither pure agricole nor anything sweet. Dry and unsweetened, it is a solid stepping stone for the curious, comfortable both neat and stirred into cocktails.
