A cask strength Clarendon from Precious Liquors marrying two marques, EMB and MDR, across 2004 and 2010 fillings, glue and tropical esters up front giving way to baked apple, with a toasted, allspice-laced finish, bottled unsweetened at 57.1%.
Description
This 20 Year Old Clarendon, bottled by Precious Liquors in its Heroes range under the Marcus Garvey title, blends two of the distillery's marques, EMB and MDR, drawn from 2004 and 2010 fillings. Clarendon in Clarendon parish runs both pot and column stills and supplies funky pot-still marks to bottlers across the world, here matured in ex-bourbon and brought together at cask strength.
The nose is firmly estery, glue and tropical fruit with a fruity lift, the palate keeps the esters and glue alongside baked apple, and the finish turns woody and toasted with allspice and a return of tropical fruit. Unsweetened and bottled at 57.1%, this is a marque-driven Clarendon for drinkers who shop by mark and want the funkier, glue-forward side of the parish, a contemplative neat pour with real age behind it.
