Description
Picaflor Tequila Blanco takes its name from the Spanish word for hummingbird, the agave's natural pollinator and a symbol of the biodiversity that sustains Mexico's agave country. It is a 100% agave blanco sourced from small traditional family producers rather than a single large distillery, a clear and unaged style that shows the agave with little between it and the glass.
The brand was started in 2012 by Enmezcalarte, a project run by Mexicans living in Barcelona who import handmade agave spirits from small family operations that would otherwise struggle to reach Europe. Bottled at 40%, it presents fresh cooked agave and lively citrus on the nose, then turns lightly spicy, rounded and balanced across the palate, trailed by fruity hints of passion fruit, a discreet almond note and a soft pepper warmth in the background. The producer states it carries no colouring or artificial additives.
