Petovia Pelinkovec Grenki

Petovia Pelinkovec Grenki is a bittersweet herbal liqueur from the Petovia range, made at Ptujska klet in Ptuj, Slovenia, and built around the characteristic aroma of wormwood, known locally as pelinkovec. Wormwood has held a place in Slovenian culinary culture for centuries, and the recipe rests on alcohol of agricultural origin refined with natural extracts, herbs and sugar. It is bottled at 25% by volume in a 1 litre bottle.

The nose is intense wormwood with herbs and fine spice, the palate bittersweet with herbs, wormwood and spicy yet slightly sweet notes, closing long, tart, balanced and aromatic. In a drink it brings a bitter herbal backbone and aromatic depth that balance sweetness, a useful component for a more bracing short or long serve. It is ideal as a classic digestif neat or slightly chilled, where the herbal character opens up, and folds into cocktails and long drinks for added complexity.
