Padre Azul Cristalino Añejo Tequila

Padre Azul is an Austrian founded brand produced at Tequila Tres Mujeres in the Amatitan valley of Jalisco, the lowland Valles zone, in partnership with master distillers from the region. This release is a Cristalino, an anejo aged in oak and then filtered through activated carbon to strip its colour back to clear, here issued as a numbered edition with a Swarovski crystal skull stopper rather than the usual leather wrapped bottle.

The spirit is 100% blue agave, cooked and twice distilled in the lowland manner, then bottled at 38%. Filtration removes most of the barrel colour and much of the oaky tannic grip, so the style reads soft and sweet rather than structured, with the gentle vanilla and rounded sweetness the cask left behind sitting ahead of the agave. The Swarovski stopper and limited count are central to how the bottle is sold.
