Resinous spruce and earthy Nordic herbs wind around a firm juniper core, with citrus cutting cleanly through. Distilled in small batches in a traditional copper pot still, it tastes of Norwegian forest after rain. Spicy, fresh and pleasantly dry, with a long herbal finish.

Made by Det Norske Brenneri, Oslo Small Batch Gin reads the raw landscape of Norway straight into the glass. Each batch is distilled in a traditional copper pot still and bottled at a brisk 45.8 per cent. The backbone is juniper, coriander and angelica root, but it is the Scandinavian additions, wild berries, spruce needles and foraged herbs, that give the spirit its fresh, resinous character.

The nose is complex and forest-like: intense juniper, citrus freshness and earthy, resinous hints of spruce and herbs. The palate is full-bodied and expressive, juniper spice balanced by subtle citrus and a green herbal depth, leading to a long, slightly resinous finish that stays dry. Pour it into a gin and tonic with a dry tonic and a sprig of rosemary, or stir a clean, woodland Martini.
