A Dominican ron from Oliver and Oliver under the Quorhum label, bottled at 40% and soft in the classic Spanish style, with caramel, roasted coffee and dried fruit over gentle wood and a lightly sweet finish.
Description
Oliver and Oliver Quorhum Antilia is a Dominican ron from the well-known Dominican blender behind the Quorhum and Opthimus ranges. It sits firmly in the soft, approachable Spanish style, an easygoing entry-level pour built around roundness and drinkability rather than depth or grip.
Built on a molasses base and matured in oak, it shows the house tendency toward smoothness and a gentle sweetening. The nose carries caramel, wood, dried fruit and leather, the palate turns woody with caramel, coffee and a roasted edge, and the finish brings dried fruit, spice and a touch of sweetness. The character is comfortable and undemanding, leaning on roasted coffee and soft wood rather than bold depth. For drinkers who enjoy a gentle Zacapa-style sweetness it will feel familiar and easy, a relaxed sipper or a base for simple cocktails rather than a pour to dissect.
