Description
Nobilis Rum bottled this single cask Diamond from 2005 off the column still, with 19 years of age. Diamond's metal column gives the cleaner side of Guyana, though here it has been aged into a dark, tannic, full-strength rum with plenty of grip.
Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled unsweetened at 61.2%, it is dry and intense: dark chocolate, roasted coffee and red fruit lead, with tobacco, herbs and molasses behind and a tannic, faintly bitter finish. The high proof and oak push the bitterness forward, kept just in balance by the fruit, in the classic old-school Demerara mould. This is a powerful, characterful sipper for drinkers who like their Guyana dry, woody and at full strength, given air and taken slowly.
