Description
Nikka 17 Years Old is a 17 year old blended whisky from Nikka, combining malt distilled at Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture with grain whisky from the Nishinomiya distillery. Released for the European market at 43%, it draws on Ex-Bourbon cask maturation across its components.
The blend reflects Masataka Taketsuru's founding vision of a whisky that bridges Scotland's malt tradition with Japanese refinement. Yoichi contributes weight, a coastal smokiness and firm malt character; Miyagikyo brings orchard fruit, floral lift and softness; and Nishinomiya grain adds a smooth, rounded backbone. Seventeen years in Ex-Bourbon casks integrate these elements into a blend of considered depth, the vanilla and cereal warmth of the wood tying the components into a cohesive and measured whole.
