A 31-year column-still New Yarmouth from 1994 at 66.5%, hitting hard with bourbon oak, coconut and dried fruit over classic NY glue and ester funk, deep and long at standout value.
Description
This New Yarmouth single cask was bottled by Rum Artesanal, the German house known for full-proof single casks in the unsweetened Jamaican tradition. Distilled in 1994 and bottled at thirty-one years old, it is among the oldest expressions of the prized 1994 New Yarmouth vintage, here from the column still, where great age replaces youthful funk with deep, noble richness.
Distilled on the column still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, three decades layer bourbon-cask sweetness and roast over the distillery's signature glue note. The nose is coconut, vanilla, bourbon and glue; the palate turns roasted and intense with barrel and toffee, closing on barrel, bourbon, dark chocolate and roast. Unsweetened and bottled at a fierce 66.5%, it carries cold-coffee and coconut depth alongside well-aged ester funk, with the strength giving way to richness over time. A deep, characterful old New Yarmouth for seasoned palates, and a standout for its age and value, best rested well and sipped neat or with a few drops of water.
