A 30-year column-still New Yarmouth from 1994 at a towering 67.6%, intense on coconut, dark wood and tobacco over bitter orange and dried fruit, a deep, powerful classic NY best well rested.
Description
This New Yarmouth single cask was bottled by Oldman Spirits under the Flensburg Rum Company label, distilled in 1994 and bottled at thirty years old. New Yarmouth in Clarendon is a rising independent-bottler favourite, and its 1994 vintage is among the most sought-after, prized for the deep, dark, coconut-and-wood character that long tropical-to-continental ageing brings to the column-still spirit.
Distilled on the column still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, three decades build serious depth behind the high proof. The nose is woody, spicy and fruity with coconut; the palate turns intense with coconut, vanilla and spice, closing woody and nutty with caramelised notes and chocolate, threaded with bitter orange and dried fruit. Unsweetened and bottled at a colossal 67.6%, it still shows a little heat that settles with air, revealing complex spice and hop-like aromas. A deep, powerful classic 1994 New Yarmouth for seasoned palates, best well rested and taken neat or with a few drops of water.
