Description
Miyagikyo 12 Years Old is a single malt from Nikka's Miyagi Prefecture distillery, with this expression bottled specifically for the Belgian market. Miyagikyo, established in 1969 in a river valley near Sendai, was designed from the outset to produce a softer, more elegant malt than Nikka's coastal Yoichi distillery, and 12 years in Ex-Bourbon casks gives the spirit the maturity to show that intention clearly.
Vanilla, gentle wood spice and a light caramel note from the bourbon wood layer over the house character of orchard and red fruit, fresh malt and delicate floral sweetness. At 45%, the expression is balanced and unhurried, a calm and quietly complex single malt that suits both the contemplative drinker and a European palate accustomed to Scotch.
