Description
Mionetto has produced Prosecco in Valdobbiadene since 1887 and this Treviso Brut is made entirely from Glera grown within the DOC zone of the province of Treviso. It is made by the Charmat method, with the second fermentation held in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for at least six months. Tank fermentation is the right choice here, keeping the wine's primary floral and orchard aromatics intact rather than building the bready character of bottle-fermented styles. The result is a fresh, dry Prosecco poured on a larger scale in this three litre format.
The wine is a bright light yellow with a fine, long-lasting bead. The nose leads with Golden Delicious apple and juicy pear, with acacia blossom and a touch of honey. The palate is dry with fresh acidity and gentle fruit sweetness, green apple and citrus keeping it lively into a clean finish. Serve well chilled at 5 to 7 degrees in a white wine glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside antipasti, shellfish, mussels and Mediterranean pasta or risotto.
