Description
This Prosecco Rosé Millesimato is a vintage-dated wine from Mionetto, the house that has worked from Valdobbiadene since 1887. It blends 85% Glera with 15% Pinot Noir, the Pinot giving the wine its rosé colour and a layer of red-fruit aroma. The wine goes through an extended second fermentation of at least sixty days by the Charmat method, longer than the standard tank cycle, which builds a finer bead and a little more aromatic depth while keeping the fresh fruit intact. It is finished in the extra dry style, with a gentle fruit sweetness.
The colour is a delicate peach-blossom pink with a persistent bead. The nose is layered, with strawberry, raspberry and red currant alongside grapefruit, acacia and a hint of fresh bread crust. The palate is harmonious and lively, its fresh acidity and subtle sweetness carried by a creamy mouthfeel into a bright finish. Serve it at 5 to 7 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes an expressive aperitif and suits antipasti, seafood such as mussels and shellfish, light pasta and risotto, and a plate of cold poultry.
