Minttu Black Original is a peppermint liqueur from Finland, the darker, spicier expression of the Minttu range. Like the rest of the line it is a clear, intensely minty liqueur made in the Scandinavian style, here given a slightly spicy depth that lends it its black character, and bottled at 32%. It keeps the clean, crystal clear profile Minttu is known for, with no sugar crystals to muddy it.

The nose is intense and fresh with dominant peppermint and a fine herbal note, the palate cool, strong and balanced with fresh mint, a light sweetness and a hint of spice, finishing refreshing, clear and long with a pepperminty coolness. Behind the bar it works as a clean, powerful mint note, adding cooling freshness without heavy sugar, which makes it a useful mint hit in a cocktail and a fast way to bring menthol to a stirred or shaken drink. It is classically served ice cold as a shot, the Finnish way, and stirred into hot cocoa or coffee in the cold months. Serve it well chilled or straight from the freezer.
