A limited Midleton Very Rare drawing on oak from the Foret de Troncais, the celebrated tight grained French forest, produced at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork. Released in a run of 1300 bottles, it is a triple distilled blend of aged pot still and grain whiskey, chosen in the annual Very Rare tradition Irish Distillers began in 1984.
The whiskey matured in ex-bourbon American oak before drawing character from the fine grained Troncais oak, layering vanilla and orchard fruit with toasted spice and a firmer tannic frame. Bottled at a higher 48%, it keeps the polished Cork house style while adding depth and grip, an unusual edition in the range.
