Description
The 1984 Midleton Very Rare, the inaugural edition of what became Irish Distillers' annual prestige blend, signed each year by the master distiller at the Midleton distillery in East Cork. This first release set the template, a marriage of older triple distilled pot still and grain whiskey, unpeated and built for elegance.
Matured in ex-bourbon American oak, it carries the polished house character, vanilla and toffee around apple and pear with a soft baking spice, smooth at 40%. As the debut bottling of a long running series, it is a piece of modern Irish whiskey history, now genuinely scarce.
