This single pot still whiskey was distilled in 1973 at the original Midleton distillery in Co. Cork, the Cork Distilleries Company site that ceased production in 1975. Drawn from a single ex-bourbon cask, number 86584, it was bottled at 25 years old in 1998 for the Irish market, a run of 968 bottles.
A quarter century in American oak brought the spirit to a honeyed, gently spiced maturity, the bourbon cask lending vanilla and soft wood over the pot still frame of clove and pepper. Bottled at 43%, it is heritage stock from a distillery that no longer runs, an early single cask release from the last years of the old Midleton site.
