Description
Midleton Very Rare has been released once a year since 1984, each edition signed by hand by the master distiller at Midleton. This 2011 bottling, a run of 1,500 for the European market, blends older single pot still and grain whiskeys distilled at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork.
The whiskey matured in ex-bourbon American oak, the backbone of the range, giving vanilla, soft spice and a honeyed weight at 40%. Triple distilled and unpeated, it shows the orchard fruit, malt and silky texture of the Midleton house, the aged grain polishing the pot still character into a smooth, understated finish.
