Description
The 2016 edition of Midleton Very Rare, Irish Distillers' annual signed blend, produced at the Midleton distillery in East Cork since 1984. It combines mature triple distilled pot still and grain whiskey, unpeated, with the pot still lending a peppery, creamy weight and the grain a soft, approachable sweetness.
Ex-bourbon American oak shapes the whiskey, vanilla and orchard fruit alongside a fresh, faintly hay like new wood note, finishing smooth and honeyed at 40%. It is a polished, fruit led edition in the Cork house style rather than a dried fruit and sherry one.
