Midleton Very Rare has been the annual prestige blend of Irish Distillers since 1984, each release hand signed by the master distiller and drawn from a selection of older pot still and grain whiskey. This 2023 vintage is bottled at 40% and made at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork for a global audience.
Maturation is in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels, a restrained cask choice that lets the age of the components show through as honey, orchard fruit and a deeper cooked and dried fruit note. There is a nutty warmth and a whisper of fresh oak, all held in the smooth, triple distilled and unpeated Midleton style. A blend built for polish and balance rather than power.
